Catharijneconvent is a museum in Utrecht which focusses on religious art, housed in a former monastery. This summer the exhibition ‘Christianity and Slavery: A Dutch Story’, shed light on the often unspoken relationship between Christianity and the Dutch history of slavery, through historical sources, overlooked viewpoints, and both classical and contemporary art. Christianity played a pivotal role in shaping ideas about slavery, with arguments both for and against it drawn from the Bible, profoundly impacting the lives of millions. The legacies of these histories continue to resonate today. Never before has such an extensive and comprehensive exhibition on this subject been organized.

Indyvideo supported the museum with the installation of this exhibition.
